The
Alexandra Writers' Centre Society
is a not-for-profit organization incorporated September 9, 1981, and is
a federally registered charity No. 11921 1852 RR0001.
Our
Objective Mission
is to enhance the creative writing experience through learning, community
and support.
The
Alexandra Writers' Centre
uses the "free fall" method of creative writing. This is the basis for
all instruction. "Free fall", first introduced by W.O Mitchell, was further
refined by Michael Fay when he set up his own creative writing courses.
In the late seventies, Michael Fay rented an office in the Alexandra Centre
where he gave lessons in creative writing. By 1981, he had gathered together
a small group who wanted to form a writer's society and it was through
their efforts that The Alexandra Writers' Centre was born.
FreeFall
magazine is published two times a year. Submission deadlines are June
30 and December 31 (contest issue). A wide variety of topics, genres and
illustrations for literary and general audiences are considered. Please
contact us for information. Visit the new website at
www.freefallmagazine.ca
Today
The Alexandra Writers' Centre is flourishing and there is an increasing
demand for our creative writing services - all done by volunteers.
