Bio Profile: Robin van Eck
Term: August 2008 to 2009
Born and raised in BC, I moved to Calgary in May 2000. I joined the Alexandra Writers' Centre Society in September 2003.
Besides my full time job with Petro Canada and the other volunteering I do for AWCS, I spend most of my spare time
writing. I am currently working on that best selling novel but also write short stories and I am in the midst of
completing my first stage play.
My publishing credits have all come thanks to the AWCS newsletter, Alexandra Musings. Besides the bi-monthly
President's Page, I have had a few articles published in the newsletter. I wrote a short story titled The Little
Things for Nylons and Other Unmentionables, a themed reading organized by one of our members as well as representing
AWCS with Secrets, another short story written specifically for Lovers, Lipstick and Lies, a reading organized by The
Society of Poets, Bards and Storytellers.
Job Description
Through out the year, the AWCS holds many different events. It is the
responsibility of the Events Coordinator, to know what events are coming
up and doing what is necessary to organize them. This may mean organizing
them on your own, finding someone else to do certain events or working
with the Volunteer Coordinator to form committees.
Events Coordinator will also design new events calendar for the coming
year, book space through the Alexandra Centre Society and brainstorm new
event ideas. This is a new position with no specific guidelines.
If you are interested in volunteering for this position on Board of Directors
of the Alexandra Writers' Centre please call 403-264-4730 and leave a
message or email awcs@telusplant.net.
